Day 6

posted Monday, 5 December 2005
Wednesday was a special day. Rina had forgotten some things so our trip to the city went via SLC. Once there she got her things together and checked the train times while I went to get brunch. She came running to find me and told me we had less than ten minutes to catch the train. Miraculously enough we managed to get a taxi to the station before the train arrived, though we did have to buy the tickets on the train which is more expensive than buying from the machine.

We were to spend that night in a nice hotel in the city so we headed straight there. We were a few hours early for check-in but they had a room available for us so we were able to drop off all our things there. It was a nice room which came with an extremely nice pair of complementary cookies. We had a cookie and then we ventured out into the cold to do our tourist bit. We had a lot of fun. Being together is fun. On our travels we noted that there was a Starbucks everywhere we looked. We must have passed about ten thousand of them.

As the afternoon came to a close we returned to the hotel and got dressed up nicely. We waited outside in the freezing cold and amidst a small amount of confusion we got in a taxi and headed off to a lovely Italian place. After that we had a play to go to. The play was just around to corner so we went to get the tickets but then we had an hour to kill. In the freezing cold we decided to find a Starbucks. Rina wanted eggnog. Guess what? No Starbucks anywhere. After much wandering back and forth we found a little supermarket that had a seating area and sold coffee. They found some canned eggnog for Rina and heated it up for her. Sweet of them really.

As Rina mentioned, the play was interesting. Some of it was bewildering. We didn't really get it. Nevertheless it was entertaining and I definitely enjoyed it. Afterwards we jumped into a taxi and went back to our lovely big bed with a kajillion pillows. Perfect.

It really was a lovely day. I want to do it again. It was also the day I introduced you to eggnog, although I don't suppose you were awfully impressed. When I got back o school I found out a lot of people don't like it. Weirdos.

It was a fun day, it really was. I love the touristy thing, even though it's silly. Some day we'll have to do the Statue of Liberty and go up the Empire State Building and other things we missed.

Bitch, I was promised pictures! Rina promised me pictures, haha. Glad you have fun.

I'm not lying about the pictures.
